The British ambassador to the United States, Sir Nigel Sheinwald, on Monday, discussed the close business relationship and opportunities between Louisiana and the United Kingdom, focusing on the future of clean technology.

There was $800 million in trade between U.K. ports and the port of New Orleans in 2010.  British company Blade Dynamics is moving its headquarters to New Orleans East’s Michoud facility and will create 600 new jobs in the process.  They began hiring in January.

The Ambassador said that there are numerous other businesses interested in the infrastructure, engineering, and real estate finance and stated “New Orleans is an attractive place for U.K. companies looking to expand.”
