Louisiana Tech’s ShuaTech competes for $450,000 in Rice Business Competition

Louisiana Tech University is sending a team to compete in this year’s business plan competition at Rice University.  42 teams in several categories compete for $1,000,000 + in cash and prizes.

The Louisiana Tech team company is Shua Tech Chemical Systems.  ShuaTech’s purpose is to produce cleaner, cheaper diesel fuel made from local natural gas.  ShuaTech is planning its first diesel production facility for Bossier City, LA with the intention of taking advantage of the Haynesville Shale gas field and the I-20 Corridor.

ShuTech is one of 42 teams to make the final cut, from over 500 applications.  The entrants had to submit summaries to compete in categories that included life sciences, information technology, energy and clean technology and renewable resources.  Teams have 15 minutes to present their business plans.   The competition will be in Houston April 14-16.
