Startup Weekend is a hands-on experience in launching a business, run by the local communities, grassroots-style. You will get grouped up in teams and each team will have 54 hours to create a viable business, from concept to product launch! Tickets are $99 for regular registration and $50 for students. New Orleans Teen Tech Day
Teen Tech Day is a one day event tailored toward youth in the New Orleans, exposing them to technologies such as web design, programming, photography, podcasting, videography, and game development. The goal is to take twenty-five teenagers between the ages of 14 – 17 and get them excited about technology as a hobby, passion, or even a career. Teen Tech Day is COMPLETELY FREE for kids, so please DONATE to help support the program!
Net2NO: How to Raise Capital for Your Business and Protect Yourself
Tonight’s event will cover the personal successes and failures raising capital from businessman Kevin Pollard. This will be a great discussion for anyone considering outside investment to fund growth.
Net2NO (pronounced “NetSquared New Orleans”) is known as the “granddaddy the tech and startup community” in New Orleans. Founded in 2008 as a way to get local entrepreneurs, innovators and tech people into the same room, it has grown from a mere 30 members to over 700 people, and it’s the fourth largest Net2Local meetup group in the world (out of 75 total).
The event will take place at 7:00 PM at the Ruby Slipper Café, 200 Magazine Street New Orleans, LA.
Gumbo Labs Meetup
And for those of you looking forward to next week: Gumbo Labs is having its monthly meet up on Wednesday, April 13, from 7:30pm – 9:30pm in New Orleans. Gumbo Labs is a group of people with common interests who collectively rent a studio for meeting, socializing, collaborating, learning and teaching. Common interests include: technology, art, tinkering, electronics, inventing, etc. The meet ups will be held at 4820 Banks Street, Studio #5, New Orleans, LA 70119.
