GoSolarUSA (PinkSheets:GSLO), the New Orleans-based company that develops new solar energy technologies, announced today that its initial shipment of Volt Solar Charger accessories for the Apple iPhone is en route from the manufacturer in China to the United States.
The Volt Solar Charger is a new detachable smartphone accessory designed to dramatically extend the Apple iPhone’s battery life using a top-of-the-line, built-in solar panel and a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery. Developed by Xiamen Solar Electronics (XSE), the Volt is the only iPhone battery pack known to GSLO capable of recharging the iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 with the same device.
Earlier this year, GoSolarUSA signed a distribution agreement with XSE providing GSLO with the exclusive right to sell and distribute the Volt in North America, the world’s largest market for iPhone accessories.
“We couldn’t be more pleased that the Volt is on its way to America at last,” said GSLO President and CEO Tyson Rohde. “I’ve received the initial shipment’s DHL tracking number, and we expect it to arrive in the next couple of weeks. Based on the interest we’ve received in the device over the past few months, this first shipment will not last long.”
The exploding demographics of iPhone users in the U.S. has led to unprecedented demand for smartphone accessories such as the Volt Solar Charger, Rohde said. To encourage potential customers to reserve a Volt Solar Charger, GoSolarUSA will give away a Volt to 100 randomly selected people who sign up for the device’s waiting list with no purchase necessary.
“With the first Volt units soon to arrive, we plan to close the waiting list shortly and announce the winners of our Volt giveaway,” Rohde said. “Anyone waiting until the last minute to sign up would be wise to do so quickly.”
