SENO Announces Fellows For Its Social Startup Accelerator Program – The Baton Rouge startup world  keeps gaining momentum, this time with a win by LSU undergrads.  A team of five current and former LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute (SEI) Fellows placed second in the 1st Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization Startup Simulation Challenge.  The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, CEO, hosted the event, which took place over a two-month period.

Launch Pad Ignition’s Impact on Louisiana’s Startup Scene – New Orleans VC firm Advantage Capital Partners and Ironwood Capital announced early stage investments in three Connecticut startup companies.  The funding will allow the startups to grow their businesses and continue to attract private investment dollars.

Advantage Capital Invests $3.2 million in St. Louis Manufacturer Thiel Tool – New Orleans-based venture capital firm Advantage Capital Partners has been focusing more and more on the St. Louis area, as several of its New Orleans principals have left the firm and deals in Louisiana have dried up.  Last week, ACP announced another deal in St. Louis.

Louisiana Tech Computer Scientist Pens First Cyber Data Mining Reference Book – Louisiana Tech continues to be a driving force in innovation and technology in Louisiana, with students recently launching new cleantech ventures and conducting biotech research.  And now Sumeet Dua, the Upchurch Endowed Professor of Computer Science and coordinator of information technology research at Louisiana Tech University, has co-authored the first reference book focusing on cyber data mining and machine learning.

Net2NO Kicks Off Summer with 3rd Annual BBQ + Boil -Net2NO is having its third annual BBQ and crawfish boil this weekend at City Park in New Orleans.   Its a great opportunity to meet people, enjoy the park, and get some good food! Net2NO (pronounced “NetSquared New Orleans”) is known as the “granddaddy tech and startup community” in New Orleans.  Founded in 2008 as a way to get local entrepreneurs, innovators and tech people into the same room, it has grown from a mere 30 members to over 700 people, and it’s the fourth largest Net2Local meetup group in the world (out of 75 total).
