Michael Leachman to Present New AIA Patent Practice Information on July 19

Join Michael Leachman of Jones Walker as he speaks about the recent patent reform legislation on July 19th, 2012 from 12 to 1pm. The event will be held at the New Orleans Bioinnovation Center located at 1441 Canal St. downtown. Attendees will learn all about the new patent practices that should be used under the AIA.

The program information states, “The recently enacted America Invents Act (AIA) is the most significant patent reform legislation is decades. From now until March of 2013, the U.S. patent laws will drastically change, thus requiring inventors and businesses to reconsider their patent practices and strategies.”

The event will cover a range of topics, including:

  • The new first-to-file system which replaces the first-to-invent system
  • New definitions of prior art
  • The new derivation proceeding
  • The expansion of pre-issuance 3rd party submissions
  • Prioritized examination
  • The new post-grant review procedure
