Next Thursday, August 9th, the Green Committee will host a Seminar to introduce the new Benefit Corporation legislation that was passed on Wednesday and give attendees a, “step-by-step” primer on becoming a B Corporation in Louisiana.” Registration and networking will begin at approximately 11:30am and the program will begin at 12:00pm and run until 1:00pm at the Jones Lang LaSalle Building in the 5th floor conference room.

Recent State Legislation passage has allowed a new class of corporations allows businesses to me more socially conscious and to consider society and the environment through business practices. This new class is called B Corps. According to the event program, many of the B Corp companies appeal to a greater group of, ”consumers, investors, and regulators seeking business leaders that not only bring a financial, but also a social and environmental return on investment.”

Attendees will gain valuable information about the benefits of becoming a benefit corporation, including attracting impact investors, differentiate your business, and to stay on track with your higher ethical standards. If you have a C-Corp, LLC or L3C, businesses can likely be transitioned into a B Corp in a few easy steps. Also, if you only have a business idea, it can be incorporated directly as a B Corp.
