University of New Orleans to Host Second 3 Day Startup Event This Weekend

3 Day Startup, 3DS for short, is a program designed to be fully hands-on, bringing in top investors and entrepreneurs, with an aim to start tech companies over the three day period. Over the weekend, the University of New Orleans hosted its second 3DS event, adding to the more than 40 events that have taken place worldwide to date.

Audiosocket Inks New Music Licensing Partnership with muvee

Audiosocket, the New Orleans-based music licensing and technology company, has forged a strategic partnership with automatic video editing pioneer, muvee, developer of software to make videos with pictures and music.The strategic relationship couples Audiosocket’s MaaS™ (Music as a Service) technology and muvee’s automatic video editing software and services to provide customers with premium, original music for their projects.

Women Business Leaders Breakfast Added to BREW 2012 Events List

As part of this year’s Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week, BREW, the Women Business Leaders Breakfast will be held as a leadership development and networking event on Thursday, November 15th at 7:30 am at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel. The event is is sponsored by Excelerant, a company which was recently named by Leadership Excellence magazine to its 2012 list of ‘500 Best in Leadership Development’. “The Women Business Leaders breakfast will showcase the successes of three women and deliver insight and inspiration,” said Adam Knapp, President and CEO of BRAC.

Car Advertising Startup Advercar Raises $2 Million

AdverCar, the former New Orleans startup that lets drivers earn money by putting ads on their cars, has raised a $2 million seed round. The funding was led by Canaan Partners, with participation from 1-800-Flowers, Branford Castle Private Equity, New Orleans Startup Fund, Jit Saxena, and the TiE Angels Boston. 1-800-FLOWERS CEO Jim McCann and Canaan partner Deepak Kamra joined adverCar’s board of directors.

All About You: Ned Fasullo

Ned Fasullo, a life long resident of Baton Rouge, is known to many as the “Southern Sinatra” because of his involvement in one of the only two big band orchestras in Louisiana. He lives with his beautiful wife Kelly and two beautiful daughters Mary Joy and Lucy. Ned has been involved in the tech industry since 1995, successfully helping many startups with their sales and marketing goals. He has now started two of his own companies. He works as a consultant, President, and CEO at Fasullo Enterprises as well as the VP of sales at Transformyx.

Propeller Selects 10 Finalists for PitchNOLA Competitions

Propeller has received well over 100 qualified applicants for PitchNOLA, a competition with two parts. Through Community Solutions, Propeller hopes to gather pitches from individuals and team that will be a sustainable solution to solving a pressing social or environmental challenge in the city. Through Lots of Progress, Propeller is looking for individuals or organizations to pitch an idea that will utilize vacant lots around the city to benefit the community. 1st Gear Accelerates Startups and Business Ideas in Lafayette

1st Gear – Start Making Innovation Real is a Lafeyette event hosted by Opportunity Machine, a company designed to bring together key elements of startups to accelerate their growth and success. 1st Gear is a day-long session where attendees will come in with an idea or product and learn how to implement important product development techniques using plan-do-study-act cycles and customer development activities. The event will be on November 13th, 2012 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Shreveport Bossier Startup Weekend Recap
