NOEW Day 5: Coulter IDEApitch, Power Pitch, and The Big Idea

Innovation AveSpecial guest and billionaire investor at TPG Capital, Jim Coulter, addressed the crowd at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week at the closing keynote yesterday. He spoke about fit and entrepreneurs finding the right situation for them, and starting with big problems to transform them into big solutions. Coulter also compared entrepreneurs and athletes; it was duly noted there are strong similarities between the two. Today, the Coulter IDEApitch (private event) features four companies- Audiosocket, Bioceptive, ChapterSpot, and Tutti Dynamics- vying for an investment from national VCs.

A second invite-only event will take place today, Power Pitch, featuring 12 local ventures pitching to a panel of national angel investors. Ventures include: Anedot, Be Well Nutrition, Connect for a Cause, Crescent Unmanned Systems, Engine, eTax Credit Exchange, GetHealthy, GoToInterview.com, Haystack EDU, MiniVax, TRUE-see, and Zlien.

We encourage everyone to attend The Big Idea today at 5:00pm at Manning’s. The event is rumored to be the largest crowd-funding pitch event in the world. The audience votes on which of the 15 local startups will win $100,000. The companies up for the $100K are Atelier Vie Distillery, Birthmark Doula Collective, Clothesline Software, Dinner Lab, DyverseCity, Education Everytime, EnrichED, Memorandom, Ooh La Bra!, Pierce Industries, ShopLocalStyle.com, Sidework, SocialChomp, Traverst, and Your Nutrition Delivered.
