Forbes ranked the most definitive and noteworthy takeaways from over 20,000 products and 300 presentations throughout the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which took place last week in Las Vegas, NV. Yellow Jacket, makers of the first stun gun smartphone case, came in at number three.

4.0 Schools and EDesign Labs Launch 12 Week Prototyping Bootcamp

How can we re-imagine education so that it actually prepares students for a world we can’t predict? That is the question 4.0 Schools, in collaboration with EDesign Labs are attempting to answer during the upcoming Prototyping Bootcamp. They are bringing together educators and technologists for 12 weeks to concept, build and test new digital learning experiences. Teams will work together over lab sessions and field testing opportunities to move from initial concepts to functional prototypes with feedback.

Tech-Based Film Company Advances Plans for Permanent Theater

Last year, Indywood, the online platform for 21st century filmmaking, held a number of independent movie screenings. The company has now finalized plans to turn an old Wash-Dry-Fold into a movie theater in the Marigny. “We’ve gotten so much more support for our movie theater than our web-based film financing and distribution products, so for now, we’re focusing on building a permanent location to screen Louisiana and other independent films,” said Co-founder Hayley Sampson.

LSU AgCenter Investigates Use of Drones in Crop Monitoring

Louisiana State University’s Agriculture Center (AgCenter) exists to develop and deliver practical, useful, life-enhancing information to the citizens of Louisiana. Researchers are currently trying to determine if using drones to monitor crops can be economically beneficial to farmers.
