New Orleans Solar Company PosiGen Surpasses 5,000 Residential Customers

PosigenEquipped with the slogan, “clean energy for everyone,” the solar leasing and energy efficiency company PosiGen Solar Solutions is seeking to bring technology to homeowners who need it the most– low-and moderate-income homeowners who may not be able to afford traditional solar pricing. While New Orleans-based, the company has big plans for expansion.

In October, the company announced that it had closed two financing deals valued at $40 million and led by the Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, which is helping the company scale nationally.

PosiGen is now among the top five largest solar companies in the nation, and it is only a three-year-old business. According to the company, they are the only company that offers a trifecta of services that will positively impact quality of life: solar power, energy efficiency and energy education.

Towards the end of 2014, the company clocked more than 5,000 installations for its residential solar systems in Louisiana.

“This is not just an historic achievement for this young company,” said Thomas Neyhart, CEO of PosiGen. “It is a testament to what a positive business model can do in a short period of time. It also speaks clearly to anyone willing to listen that people want choices in their electricity providers.”

PosiGen also recently expanded into Connecticut and New York and expects to enter two additional states by the end of 2015. The company now has 165 direct employees and 150 contract employees in the three states of operation.
