VarageSale Launches Platform in Four New Louisiana Locations

VarageSale is the online marketplace for people to buy, sell and connect with their neighbors in communities around the world. The platform, launched in 2012, has just opened up four new communities throughout South Louisiana, including Baton Rouge, Denham Springs-Central, Uptown to Gentilly, and St. Bernard in New Orleans.

VarageSaleVarageSale now includes millions of users with billions of items viewed each month in the over 450 communities worldwide.

“We were pulled into South Louisiana because we’ve been really successful in neighboring areas. For example, our Kenner/Metairie community boasts over 8,000 active members who have posted more than 250,000 items to date,” said Tami Zuckerman, co-founder of VarageSale. “Many buyers find items they love at discounts of up to 90% off, while one of our top sellers earns an average of $600 a week by simply cleaning out her closets.”

Zuckerman wanted to offer the same positive experience to the Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

VarageSale was created to be a non-threatening buying and selling environment that is also friendly, fun and trustworthy. Site admins review new user requests before they are allowed to join to make sure they are real people. The site not only increases the level of trust, but it also creates social relationships and builds communities.

“The social good that comes of the VarageSale communities is truly unique,” said Zuckerman. “In Kenner-Metairie, the community provides support to members in need. When one Kenner-Metairie family was going through a difficult time, I learned that their community helped out by organizing a meal train where different community members cooked and delivered hot food to the family’s home. We want to spread this social good all over the world!”
