Two-Day Rapid Innovation Summit Set for December

The Points of Light Civic Accelerator has launched a series of Rapid Innovation Summits across the Southeast, with three stops this fall, including one in New Orleans December 10-11.  Organizers are looking for social innovators — from entrepreneurs to nonprofit and community leaders — to attend the two-day bootcamp.

The Accelerator hosted a Rapid Innovation Summit in Atlanta earlier this month.

The Summits are a new initiative from the Civic Accelerator, which has already made its stops in Houston and Atlanta. They have been running 10-12 week social entrepreneurship bootcamps for the last three years.

“The new program will allow us to appeal to and reach a more diverse audience and expand our curriculum into more organizations to help them innovate and problem solve,” said Ayesha Khanna, founder of Civic Accelerator.

Khanna says the Rapid Innovation Summit is ideal for nonprofits and community-oriented organizations, because they are generally lean by nature and are often tackling large issues with minimal resources. The course will cover design thinking, lean startup principles and exploring business model design through the business model canvas.

“Using design thinking strategies and rapid start-up methodologies, nonprofits can test their assumptions, explore innovative concepts and learn to iterate effectively to reach a conclusive decision: ‘Go or No-go’.”
