Virtual Reality Heads to Music Festivals in Louisiana

The inaugural Festival Bonfouca took place over the weekend in Slidell. Like many festivals in Louisiana, organizers focused on culture, music and art. The festival has also piqued the interest of New Orleans based marketing firm R&D Design, who was present at the festival gathering virtual reality (VR) footage.

The Project NOLA VR team has captured virtual reality footage at Mardi Gras, festivals, concerts and more.

“New and burgeoning festivals like this are exactly what we are looking for,” said David Holtman, Managing Director at R&D Design. “The opportunity to document this event and share it with not just Louisianians, but every one interested in cultural events on a global scale is why we started this business.”

Footage from the festival can be viewed on either YouTube or Facebook. Be sure to open the links with a smart device to get the full VR experience.

Holtman said they originally got into VR because they saw the industry as new and somewhat immature, providing them with excess creative freedom to shape the industry.

R&D Design provides high quality aerial drone videography as well as immersive VR video. The startup recently partnered with Joeiful to launch Project NOLA VR, which aims to be the nation’s largest virtual reality library.
