Cellcontrol Partners with New York County to Halt Distracted Driving

Cellcontrol is a Baton Rouge company that developed technology to stop distracted driving and create better drivers. They recently announced a partnership with New York’s Nassau County that shares its DriveID technology to drivers ticketed for distracted driving.

The program first began in June 2016 and has already entered 1,600 ticketed drivers into the program. Cellcontrol also shared that 98 percent of participants completed the program.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano stated, “This alternative program gives drivers a second chance while being mindful that texting-while-driving is distracting and can cause injuries and fatalities.”

DriveID disables the keypad while a vehicle is moving, which eliminates any texting, emailing, and web browsing while driving. However, hands-free usage is still possible to allow for navigation and more.

“We have helped tens of thousands of families and companies across the globe protect their loved ones and employees from the dangers of texting while driving and other distractions with Cellcontrol,” said Cellcontrol CEO Robert Guba. “Likewise, the success of the Nassau County program proves that Cellcontrol can help governments and municipalities keep their roadways safer and promote real, positive behavior change,” Guba said.
