Social innovation hub Propeller and partner non-profit 4.0 Schools hosted the third annual PitchNOLA: Education on November 8 to highlight education ventures throughout New Orleans.
Each of the 10 finalists pitched a solution to improve educational outcomes for all New Orleanians and a chance at $10,000 in total funding.
The grand prize of $5,000 went to We Play Center, a new initiative of TrainingGrounds that supports, trains, and provides educational programming to parents and caregivers with children ages birth to five.
Upbeat Academy came in second place, taking home $3,000 for their venture that provides underprivileged, at-risk children with an opportunity to learn how to produce and perform music.
Third place prize along with the Audience Favorite Award, totaling $2,500, went to Eat Your Words, a platform that provides students, teachers, and parents with learning tools that assist in the early learning experience using food.
