Startup Food Biz Provides Online Support for Food Entrepreneurs

Startup Food Biz is an online platform that delivers video courses and other tools and resources to the food industry

Run by New Orleans-based entrepreneur and food and agriculture attorney Patrick Morin, the platform helps food-based businesses understand the legal and regulatory issues in their industry. Morin works with restaurants, pop-ups and food trucks, and packaged product companies.

Through the Startup Food Biz courses, users learn how to create compliant labels, protect their recipes and brand, ensure best hiring practices, choose the best legal entity for their business, and more.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently awarded Startup Food Biz a $100,000 grant under the Small Business Innovation Research Program to continue to support education for food entrepreneurs.

“This grant will enable us to build and refine an educational product we know food entrepreneurs desperately need,” said Morin.
