New Orleans Ranks as Top Entrepreneurial Metro in the U.S.

The New Orleans-Metairie metro area has been named the fourth most entrepreneurial large metro in the United States.

“While the idea of entrepreneurship might bring to mind famous innovators like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, the majority of entrepreneurs simply operate small businesses or are self-employed,” shared Cloud Kitchens, creators of the recent report.

The only other large metros that were found to have more entrepreneurial activity are Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, and San Diego-Carlsbad, respectively.

Cloud Kitchens reported the percentage of workers in New Orleans that are self-employed as 12.1 percent. The total number of people that are self-employed is 70,893.

That New Orleans population joins the nearly 16 million self-employed individuals throughout the country.
