The Silicon Bayou continues to advance and improve its economy, with digital media, biotech, and clean technology jobs on the rise.
Forbes has recognized this growth and named New Orleans as the number one city in the U.S. for information jobs. This comes on the heels of other recent Forbes reports calling the Louisiana digital media incentives the “best in the U.S.” and identifying New Orleans as the second-best large city for jobs.
Forbes’ story on the information industry’s impact on places like Silicon Valley explores the tech sector and the U.S. economy. The Shreveport-Bossier City area also made the list in the number three spot.
Forbes claims that NOLA’s high ranking is driven by a 39 percent increase in the sector, driven by gains in TV and film production jobs.
The writer, Joel Kotkin, says that “the growth of this sector is a promising one for economies that have long been dominated, like New Orleans, by the generally low-paying hospitality industry.”
