A creative startup is about to hit the scene.
300seats, one of the winners at Louisiana’s first Startup Weekend this past April, will launch June 11 with a showing of two independent films in downtown Baton Rouge. 300seats is a new Arts + Cultural hub, which will provide an independent film theater, art and creation space. Following the lean startup model advocated by Eric Ries, this startup is debuting with a ‘pop-up theater’ model, which is common in New York but new to this area. Their premier will be located for one night only in the historic Kress Building.
Manuel Valencia, founder of 300seats, tells us that this premier will include showing two films (a short + a feature) that were official selections at this year’s Sundance & Tribeca Film Festivals, as well as hosting a meet and greet with the actors and directors. We’ve heard rumors there will be an after-party for attendees, too. All in all, it sounds like the most enjoyable startup launch ever and an event not to be missed.
