Verizon Launches Wireless Technology Innovation Awards for Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge Businesses

Verizon has announced its Wireless Technology Innovation awards, a contest designed to spur innovation with Verizon mobile technology, in three cities, including New Orleans/Baton Rouge.

Companies, non-profit groups and government institutions are eligible to earn a $10,000 grant for developing the most innovative applications and use of Verizon Wireless mobile technology to improve operations and serve their own customers, clients or constituents.   Two winners — one for organizations with fewer than 50 employees and one winner for organizations with 50-500 employees — will earn a $10,000 grant from Verizon Wireless and recognition at an awards luncheon attended by local business civic leaders.

To be eligible, business must have a physical location in New Orleans or Baton Rouge and have a valid Verizon Wireless business contract.  Verizon executives will act as judges, and will evaluate the submissions based on solution implementation (how has your company incorporated Verizon Wireless into business operations), effectiveness or business impact of solution (how has the innovation improved performance), and innovation.

The deadline to enter online is September 16, 2011.  An awards luncheon will be held at the Loews Hotel in New Orleans on November 10, 2011.  Check out the official website for details.
