Logan Leger, an LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Fellow, LSU engineering student and CEO of New Aperio, participated in the 2011 Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards finals, November 17-19, 2011.
Leger’s participation in the Ft. Worth round last April placed him in the Global Finals. Leger competed in the GSEA finals with students from across the globe and finished in the top 30. As a student entrepreneur, Leger went “head-to-head against best student entrepreneurs in the world,” according to the GSEA website.
Leger said it was an honor to be considered a top student entrepreneur.
“I was competing against people from all over the world, so I met people from Ireland, Malaysia, South Africa, really from all corners of the world,” Leger said. “Though I didn’t compete in the top five, I finished in the top 30 in the world, which is a huge testament to the quality of the education I’m receiving at LSU.”
The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards is a catalyst that inspires students and young people to start and grow entrepreneurial ventures. The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards are a program of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization.
The Entrepreneurship Fellows Program at LSU is a year-long work/study program designed to encourage business and entrepreneurial practices in a select group of undergraduate students. The program provides students with the opportunity to network with and be mentored by top executives thereby giving these students an extra edge upon graduation. Fellows are selected from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds across campus and are given the knowledge, skills and contacts to make an immediate impact.
Leger was also honored as a member of the 2011 Silicon Bayou 100.
