Social entrepreneurs are passionate people with creative solutions to society’s most important social problems. The Social Entrepreneurs of New Orleans are accepting applications for SENO’s 2012-2013 Social Venture Accelerator. They are interested in for-profit, non-profit, and hybrid venture ideas. Applications are due March 30th, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.

Social Venture Accelerator Overview:

The SENO Social Venture Accelerator was designed in partnership with Echoing Green, a nonprofit which helps social entrepreneurs make a big impact. The Accelerator helps early-stage ventures become operational through hands-on support from paid consultants, pro bono professional services, mentors, peer learning opportunities, and increased exposure. The program encourages ideas in the areas of healthy food accesss, public health, public education, and blight/housing. The program will select 12-15 fellows this year, helping each reach financial stability and meet social impact goals.

2011 SENO Accelerator Fellows generated a 1500% return on investment by having a support team to bring their ideas to life. The 9 fellows brought in $1.5 million in external financing and revenues and created 17 new jobs since the beginning of the program. A few of the fellow experiences can be found here. Tippy Tippens, of Matter L3C, says the program is, “better than a fairy godmother…I’ve made so much progress since the start of the program–SENO has helped to reduce wasted time, quicken the learning curve, and cut out some of the baby steps in the beginning.”
