The Louisiana Technology Park, a business incubator for tech startups, has had a busy month. They have acquired a new strategic partner, seen a company expansion, and a number of exciting upcoming events.
Upcoming Events
LSU’s CxC Digital Media Fest will be held April 2-4, 2012. The event celebrates LSU undergraduate students who are producing intellectual and creative work using digital media. More information can be found here. Finalists in each category go on to compete at the ultimate level, delivering a 5 minute pitch about their entry.
The Baton Rouge chapter of the SQL Server User Group will hold its monthly meeting at the Tech Park on April 11, 2012. More details can be found on their website. The newly renovated facilities will be a great host for events and meetings focusing on technology and the tech community.
New Strategic Partner: Baker Donelson
LA Tech Park announced yesterday that it has added law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman,Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC to its network of strategic partners. Members now have access to the firm’s 630 attorneys and public policy advisors.
The Strategic Partner program was created in 2001 in hopes to help all companies succeed through the park. In addition to Baker Donelson, the Tech Park has also added Covalent Logic, TRCG Advisors, and Odyssey Design Studio to the network of Strategic Partners.
Social Network Guidelines for Businesses
Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube are widely used social networks, but users must keep in mind there are still fairly strict legal limitations and guidelines for each network. Tara Madison, Partner at Kean Miller, explains these guidelines for businesses using the social networks without getting tangled in the limitations.
Madison shares the correct trademark information from Google and Facebook, as well as Facebook’s policy on promoting a brand outside of the social network itself. Before signing onto a social network site, be sure to read through the permissions and guidelines to correctly advertise your business while using the sites. The full post can be found here.
