Chris Schultz, Nic Perkin, and Idea Village Take Home Inaugural DDD Awards

The Downtown Development District of New Orleans (DDD) created the Downtown Awards as an annual program to recognize the accomplishments of Downtown NOLA property owners, businesses, residents, workers and organizations. The award ceremony took place yesterday at the Sugar Mill.

The award ceremony was designed to, “honor the people and places that inspire, innovate and integrate the Downtown NOLA brand into their Downtown neighborhoods.”

The awards covered projects and activities in the area bounded by the Pontchartrain Expressway, Claiborne Avenue, Iberville Street and the river. There were 19 categories and awards received at yesterday’s event, including three awards given to two people and one organization frequently mentioned in Silicon Bayou News:

Downtown Brand Ambassador of the Year: Chris Schultz. Chris is the founder of Voodoo Ventures , co-founder of Launch Pad, and co-founder of Flatstack. He is what a true entrepreneur is all about.

Downtown iMinder of the Year: Nic Perkin. Nic is the co-founder & President of The Receivables Exchange, a company that helps businesses quickly turn receivables into cash.
