Propeller Announces New Initiative to Restore Vacant Buildings Throughout New Orleans

We all remember when Neighborland was introduced to New Orleanians, enabling community remembers to come together to create a better city with innovative ideas for changing all sorts of problems. Now, Propeller along with the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) in partnership with Tulane are set to host PitchNOLA 2012: Lots of Progress. The application process for the competition is already underway. The competition is designed to have residents find alternative uses for vacant lots around the city and come up with viable, sustainable, scalable solutions for New Orleans, just like many did with Neighborland.

Applications for PitchNOLA are due by October 22nd, 2012. The winner will receive a vacant lot of their choice to begin this city-changing project. The competition will have ten semi-finalists that will have a chance to pitch and become first, second, and third place winners. Click here for an application.

Application Details: Propeller asks all applicants submit a short online application and a proposed site drawing of their plan. The website has a full list of eligibility requirements, a map of designated properties, and FAQ.

Info Session: There will be an informational session next Wednesday, September 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at NORA. RSVP required to attend the info session.

Event Date: The event will take place on November 15, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the  Propeller Incubator. For those who are not pitching but want to attend, you can watch the live competition by registering here.
