In partnership with Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), BioDistrict New Orleans have recognized the changing business climate in the health IT sector and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to focus on creating opportunities for workforce development, training, and online initiatives. This collaboration is happening just in time for the upcoming 2013 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition happening in March.
“This new collaboration with HIMSS and BioDistrict New Orleans is positive news for our city,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “I am hopeful that this partnership will help to create new economic and workforce development opportunities in the hospitality, health IT and innovation sectors for New Orleanians.”
HIMSS will provide career development resources and services including the HIMSS JobMine® job listings, online mentoring, and an emerging professionals community. Additionally, webinars, white papers, and other career building information will be provided on behalf of both companies. With these collaborative efforts, the companies hope to create more than 20,000 jobs over in New Orleans over the next eight to ten years.
