As part of  the Idea Village and Brees Dream Foundation’s Trust Your Crazy Ideas Challenge, four finalist schools pitched last night for the grand prize, a $10,000 check to make their crazy ideas come to life at the third annual Idea Bowl.

Cohen College Prep High, Lusher Charter School, Isidore Newman School and St. Augustine High were all part of last night’s event, held at the World War II Museum. Each school was one of an original six in the first pitch off, two did not make it to the final round.

As any pitch competition would go, the schools were allotted five minutes to pitch and then the judges had a chance to ask questions. In addition to Drew and Brittany Brees, the other judges included Mark Romig from New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, Tara Conobbio from Google, representative from the Brees Dream Foundation Chris Stewart, and Simone Bruni from Demo Diva.

At the end of the night, Brees said all the teams were going home with $2,500 in addition to the $1,000 Conobbio pledged to the team members of the winning school. “…All four schools did a phenomenal job,” said Brees. “They really had so many great ideas. It was so hard to pick a winner, but in the end they all deserve to be awarded and certainly recognized for their achievements tonight.”

Lusher’s “I am” concept took home the reward. The students encouraged audience members to fill in the blank word after, “I am.” Their campaign was spread through social media, keychains, and buttons, all of which found success.
