Today, the dedication ceremony for the Donna and Paul Flower Hall for Research and Innovation at Tulane University will begin at 3:30 pm. Tulane has designed this four-story campus addition, which replaces the out-of-date Francis Taylor Laboratory, to be a center for scientific research and entrepreneurial activity. The dedication comes just in time, as the university, in addition to the city as a whole, continues to be a brain magnet for top talent.
According to Nola.com, 10,000 of the 24,000 square foot building will be occupied by 13 research laboratories. The second and third floors will be completed within the next two years because the initial $7.4 million budget did not cover the overall costs.
Daily Finance described one challenge Tulane had faced prior to the news of the Flower Hall construction. The university has somewhat limited resources with increasingly sophisticated IT demands. The site continued, saying Tulane, “realized that the ever-expanding technology needs of its more than 12,600 students and 4,300 employees required a more modern infrastructure.”
