What do Robbie Vitrano and Chris Schultz have in common with Brad Feld and Dave Mcclure? Besides being successful entrepreneurs, they also have all registered for a profile on the social fundraising platform Connect for a Cause. The site allows users to auction off meetings and the proceeds go to the charity of their choice. Co-founder Jason Nicosia has called it, “eBay meets LinkedIn for social good.”
Last Friday, Tech Cocktail announced they are searching for SXSW’s hottest showcasing startup and Connect for a Cause made the list of 30 finalists for the People’s Choice Award. Connect for a Cause and the 29 other startups are showcasing as part of Tech Cocktail’s SXSW Startup Celebration sponsored by CEA and .CO.
“I’m honored that we were nominated, but seeing the caliber of some of the other companies and the reach they have, even at an early stage, makes me realize how hard we need to work to make Connect for a Cause a success,” said Nicosia. “We’re on our way, but nowhere near there yet.”
Voting ends at 11:00 pm local time on March 8th, so cast your votes. Hopefully Nicosia and his tech Co-founder Matt Culpepper will win the prize package and be named Tech Cocktail’s hottest showcasing startup!
