After the change in venue for December’s NOLA Meetup and the Silicon Bayou 100 Release Party, we’ll be changing it up again and heading to Barcadia, next Wednesday, March 20th, 2013. The event falls right in the middle of New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, so we are expecting a great crowd. Doors will open at 7:00 pm so don’t forget to head over after Wednesday at the Square!
MBA students from eight schools- Tulane, Loyola, Cornell, Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale – will be involved as part of the Idea Village’s IDEAcorps initiative that connects university resources to provide direct strategic consulting to New Orleans entrepreneurs during NOEW.
The students have teamed up with a few of entrepreneurs pitching throughout next week to work together in addition to the students’ preparation for the IDEAcorps Pitch on Friday morning. As a bonus, they will all be at Wednesday’s NOLA Meetup. One member from each team will have two minutes to share what they are working on and then ask the audience, full of technologists, entrepreneurs, and innovators for help. An example ask is if they need a UX designer for two hours on Thursday morning, they can present an ask for that.
One of our headline sponsors for the event is Silverline, a boutique Salesforce implementation firm based in New York. The company will have a representative speaking at NOLA Meetup in addition to their day session, Building Your Cloud Strategy: Top Web-Tools Your Startup Should Know About. This is Silverline’s second year participating in NOEW.
NOLA Meetup’s second headline sponsor for next week is Salesforce, a customer relationship management (CRM) software and cloud computing company. They will have a representative to share their 1-1-1 model with the MBAs and technologists in the audience. The model enables the company to donate 1% of their time, 1% of technology, and 1% of resources to nonprofits like the Idea Village. Salesforce also participates in two daytime sessions during NOEW.
Both companies are helping promote the engagement of the cohorts through the Salesforce Silverline Challenge, beginning on Monday and continuing throughout the week. The winners will receive free consulting hours, $10K, and 5 licenses and implementation. Last year, ChapterSpot received the prize.
Last but definitely not least, Zappos’ Speaker of the House, Jamie Naughton, will be the Keynote speaker for the NOEW edition of NOLA Meetup. She has been with the company since 2004 and works directly with company CEO Tony Hsieh to promote a dynamic company culture, as well as share that culture with the outside world. She considers herself a Speaker for Delivering Happiness, a core value at Zappos.
