Annual Tulane Business Competition Announces Finalists Vying for up to $70K

TulaneThe Tulane Business Plan Competition (TBPC), hosted by the Tulane Entrepreneurship Association (TEA) in partnership with the Levy-Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship, has announced the finalists for its 13th annual competition. The student-run, international competition received 51 applications this year. Twenty moved onto the second round and three companies– Be Well Nutrition, TRUE-See Systems, and Humanure Power— will pitch for $50,000 during the finals on April 19th, 2013 at Tulane University.

“Your Business, Your World,” is the theme of this year’s competition. The winner is considered to be the company that created the best sustainable business model and are built on the principles of conscious capitalism. It is a great opportunity for students to present their business plans to a live audience and a panel of judges including fellow entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

“We are excited about this year’s competition and are hoping to continue the recent momentum that Tulane has gained in the New Orleans community and beyond as a driving force for entrepreneurial growth in the region,” says TEA President Cullan Maumus.

Additionally, a second track called the Domain Companies New Orleans Entrepreneur Challenge will award $20,000 to the company that “presents the best plan for the creation or expansion of a New Orleans-based business that demonstrates strong growth potential and positive local impact.” The finalists for the Challenge are Be Well Nutrition, Haystack EDU, and TRUE-See Systems.

Both the Competition and Challenge are looking to support new, independent ventures in the early growth stage. For more information about these events, visit tulane2013.istart.org.
