Hackathon Round Two: Codemkrs Announces First Ever Music Hackathon in Louisiana

CODEMKRSHistory is being made in Louisiana and it is due in large part of Codemkrs Founder, Travis Laurendine, and other young, innovative entrepreneurs. Codemkrs, the Louisiana Technology Council, and host University of New Orleans (UNO) are proud to announce to first ever Music Hackathon held in the state. The goal is to work with the music community to create better outcomes and experiences for musicians and fans.

The 24-hour Marathon kicks off Friday, April 19th at UNO’s Lindy Boggs Conference Center at 4:00pm. Ideas will be pitched at 5:00pm and teams will form around 6:00pm. Designers, musicians, and music industry fans with ideas are invited to attend. The demonstrations will be held the next day, April 20th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

The judges include: Reid Wick from the Grammy’s; Dr. Madhi Abdelgeurfi, Chair, UNO Computer Science Department; and Sherri McConnell, former Executive Director of Louisiana Entertainment.

“Codemkrs Music Marathon was created on the heels of the successful Codemkrs Super Challenge which birthed eight webapps and a slew of national press talking positively about the city and its burgeoning tech industry,” said Laurendine. “This ‘hackathon’ seeks to follow in the footsteps of New Orleans’ musical innovation legacy that started in Congo Square and continues to this day.”

Music Marathon prizes include: Jazz Fest Tickets and SYNC UP tent access during the festival, tickets to Hangout Fest, tickets to Outside Lands Fest, tickets to Buku Fest, tickets to The Howlin Wolf’s Fest By Night Series, co-working space at Launch Pad, membership to Dinner Lab, a prize package from Your Nutrition Delivered, a package from TuneUp, and much more has yet to be announced.
