International Social Media Conference Hits New Orleans for First Time in Eight Years

PubconPubcon began in 2000 as an informal gathering of early search engine optimizers and webmasters at a London pub. Over the years Pubcon has shifted away from its original pub gathering meaning and more towards the professional Web “publishing conference” it has become.

The high productivity social media and optimization conference will be held in New Orleans April 22nd through 25th at the Convention Center. Pubcon is considered the biggest and best new media and search marketing event.

Pubcon was last in New Orleans in 2005 and has since been held in Boston, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Dallas, London and Austin. New Orleans is certainly glad to have it back for a week featuring over 150 speakers, major keynotes and over 100 panel sessions. There are at least six simultaneous daily topic tracks occurring daily as well as a full exhibit hall and a number of networking events.

The conference is bringing in big names including Michael Slaby, Obama for America chief integration and innovation officer, and keynotes by 500 Startups founding partner Dave McClure and Chris Pirillo, founder of digital culture company LockerGnome.

For those attending Pubcon for the first time, there are many lists available online regarding what to bring, etiquette tips, how to have a successful conference and more.
