Loyola Senior Pitch Night Created for Students to Share Innovative Music Business Ideas

Loyola Senior Pitch NightStudents from the Department of Music Industry Studies at Loyola University New Orleans are gearing up for Senior Pitch Night, an event created for the students to share their innovative business ideas. The event will be held tomorrow, April 30th, at 6:00pm at Roussel Hall.

Students will pitch a variety of ideas, including: apps, artist services companies, custom merchandise, and training programs. The top three pitches will receive a cash prize to get their business idea off the ground.

The Pitch Night has secured a panel of international judges (bios from Loyola’s event invitation) for the competition, including:

Benji Rogers – PledgeMusic.com (London/NYC)

Benji Rogers founded PledgeMusic, the global direct-to-fan funding platform for musicians to record and tour in 2009. PledgeMusic helps artists engage with their fans, fund their music, keep their rights and raise money for charity.

Peter Åstedt – Musichelp.se (Sweden)

Peter started his record label Dead frog records 1989 just 14 years old. Today Dead frog records are one of the oldest independent record companies in Sweden. During the turbulent years in beginning of 2000 Peter started Musichelp Sweden AB a service company the helps independent artists, record labels, publishers, managers with services like digital distribution, physical distribution, PR, syncs, management and export. Today Musichelp handle over 6,000 artists in Sweden.

Billy O’ Connell – Loyola/CASH Music

Billy is an independent music professional with 25 years experience. He gravitates toward sustainable solutions to business (life) problems by creating meaningful interactions with hearts and brains and amplifying them via technology.
