How GROW Conference Will Help Louisiana Startups

growconf-logo-v14-finalGROW Conference is Canada’s leading tech conference, highlighting the intersection of design and entrepreneurial thinking. The event expects to bring in over 1,200 for its 4th annual event August 14 to 16th, 2013 in Vancouver. GROW 2013 focuses on the future of businesses, connecting entrepreneurs to potential investors, co-founders and mentors.

Organizers want to support Louisiana entrepreneurs and have provided our community members with our very own registration link.

GoInstant Founder and CEO Jevon MacDonald recently wrote a blog post on TechVibes explaining the ways in which GROW benefits entrepreneurs and startup communities around the country, including cities and towns throughout Louisiana.

The four main benefits are as follows:

  1. Forging connections with the top tech minds in the industry.
  2. Rejuvenating the entrepreneurial spirit.
  3. Creating a technology ecosystem without borders.
  4. Discovering amazing talent.

“GROW lets communities continue to build innovation where they are by giving them the access to the same resources and introductions to larger business leaders from established tech hubs,” wrote MacDonald. “I truly believe innovation can be born and brought to market from anywhere in the world. GROW helps make that happen.”

To kick off the conference, a train full of geeks (Geeks on Rails) will travel on August 13th from Portland to Seattle and end in Vancouver. Many of the GROW speakers will be on board for a great networking opportunity.

The theme of Day 1 (August 14) is Design, Build, Grow; Day 2 (August 15) is the Intersection of Design and Entrepreneurial Thinking; Day 3 (August 16) is Outdoor Adventure, where locals will take GROW attendees kite-boarding, hiking, cycling, mountain biking and kayaking.

GROW has secured a large list of top talent to speak including: Daniel Burka, Google Ventures; Phil Fernandez, Marketo; Chris Larsen, OpenCoin; Don Mattrick, Microsoft; Josh Reich, Simple; Robert Scoble, Rackspace; Jon Crawford, Storenvy; Josh Elman, Greylock; Nir Eyal, NirAndFar.com; Don A.
