Over 80 members of the tech and startup community in New Orleans attended the first ever local Tech Cocktail Social last night at Ohm Lounge. Dinner Lab and FundDat were picked by Tech Cocktail to represent New Orleans’ hottest startups in Vegas at Celebrate.
The national startup competition and conference is just around the corner. From October 23 – 25, Tech Cocktail is expecting over 500 attendees in downtown Las Vegas, including startup founders, entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, investors, media and local community leaders.
Tech Cocktail had over 100 startups qualify from their tour around the country. They are narrowing it down to 30, including the two from New Orleans, for the startup showcase at the end of the month.
FundDat is a reward-based, crowdfunding platform designed for projects created in or about New Orleans.
“We want to help people help themselves,” said FundDat Co-founder Alex McConduit. “We want to create a crowdfunding culture…we know there are thousands of people in NOLA with great ideas and that’s why we are developing FundDat.”
Dinner Lab is a membership-based social dining club. Each dinner is unique in that different chefs and locations are used for each dinner. The experience started in New Orleans but has now expanded to Nashville, Austin, New York and Los Angeles.
“Our concept removes the trappings of the traditional restaurant and strips back the dining experience to its most raw and essential form through three key ingredients – great people, unique food and interesting locations,” said Brian Bordainick, CEO of Dinner Lab. “We firmly believe that the perfect Dinner Lab event can’t be planned for. It happens when mixed just right.”
