Calling all entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, graduate students and more! Jordan Dorenfeld, MBA Fellow for Operating Venture Capital LLC Tulane Finance and Energy MBA Candidate, Class of 2014, and the New Orleans BioInnovation Center (NOBIC) are hosting the first ever Venture Capital and Private Equity Conference of Southern Louisiana on October 18th, 2013.
“I see a huge opportunity in having an exclusive speaker/networking event that creates buzz and connections for New Orleans-based businesses for years to come,” said Dorenfeld.
Dorenfeld said he is creating the pitch day without the pitching, just good quality speakers, networking and fun over cocktails in New Orleans. Plus, he continued, it’s a chance for the best of the best to meet one-on-one with investors and mentors.
Three activities will take place during the conference, including a panel discussion on getting a company ready for investors, an idea contest focused on how to retain and scale southern Louisiana-based businesses, and a networking social to follow.
Panelists will explain what they needed to get done to raise capital and share stories about their time as fundraisers in the venture capital and private equity spaces. Panelists include: Nicholas Perkin, Elliot Sainer, Kenneth Purcell, Susan Dauber and special guest moderator Jonathan York.
The idea contest will allow participants to pitch for up to seven minutes on how to retain and scale businesses in southern Louisiana. After a 15-minute question and answer session, the winner will be announced and their idea will be a challenge to the audience and community.
