Dorsey is also Co-Founder and CEO of Square, a mobile payment device making transactions easier for business owners.

The company is hosting “Let’s Talk” events around the country to discuss growing businesses.

“Cities including New Orleans are enjoying a small business renaissance driven by customers seeking a local crafted experience they can only find within their neighborhoods,” said Dorsey. “Local businesses are the backbone of our communities and the fabric of our economy. Supporting local economies we will have a dramatic effect on the national economy and potentially the global economy as well.”

Let’s Talk features a panel of four local business owners, including: Nick Vivion, Booty’s Street Food; Jonathan Hamilton, Style Gallery ER; Eugene Anderson, Krewe du Brew; and Alex del Castillo, Taceaux Loceaux.

One community member said, “given the rabid interest in Twitter, it’s really cool that we have a tech luminary coming to our ‘hood.”

After an originally quick sell out, the event was opened again for interested attendees and once again sold out. Add yourself to the wait list here.
