Stemmed from an effort to raise awareness about technology employment opportunities in New Orleans, several local companies have joined forces to sponsor the new “Big River Stage”– the main stage– at the 2014 French Quarter Festival.
The announcement was made today by Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.), GE Capital Technology Center, and the New Orleans Business Alliance. Participating companies include 365 Connect, Carrollton Technology Partners, CotingaSoft, Fat Happy Media, Federated Sample, GE Capital Technology Center, LaunchPad, NOVO Communications, Search Influence, Touch Studios, and TurboSquid.
“Greater New Orleans, Inc. is proud to organize this coalition of local technology companies, which was formed to support the growth and stability of the technology sector in our region,” said Michael Hecht, President and CEO of GNO, Inc. “The coalition’s sponsorship of the main stage at French Quarter Fest will raise local awareness and appreciation of the growth of our region’s technology sector.”
It’s no secret the local technology sector, in addition to many others, is booming in New Orleans. The city was recently named the number three city in the country for IT jobs. GNO, Inc. credits this growth to aggressive digital media incentives, favorable tax climate, workforce availability, unique culture and competitive business climate.
“This coalition demonstrates the emerging strength of the creative technology sector locally, and the vitality of New Orleans as a growth market,” said Rodrick Miller, President and CEO of the New Orleans Business Alliance. “This coalition is committed to supporting the New Orleans community and its economic revitalization, and the New Orleans Business Alliance looks forward to working with them to achieve continued prosperity.”
