Local organization Health 2.0, which hopes to catalyze digital health innovation in New Orleans, has partnered with the empowering Team Gleason to host the “Cheers for Charity” fundraiser at the Rusty Nail on Thursday, April 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
It may seem like an unlikely collaboration, yet the two organizations have a common interest in solving healthcare challenges through new technologies and entrepreneurship.
“We’re truly excited about working with Steve and Team Gleason because they share so many of the same goals Health 2.0 has in terms of empowering patients and improving lives through new technologies and innovations,” says Rahlyn Gossen, co-founder of Health 2.0 NOLA. “Health 2.0 is about identifying technical innovation in healthcare and supporting the entrepreneurial journey from idea stage to reality, ultimately generating positive outcomes and improvement.”
Admission to the Cheers for Charity benefit includes food, beverage, entertainment, and opportunities to hear from healthcare technology experts and local leadership from Health 2.0 and Team Gleason. All proceeds will benefit The Gleason Initiative Foundation.
“I’ve often said that until there is a medical cure for ALS, technology is that cure. Not only can technology be life sustaining, but it can also empower patients to live fully, having a valuable and positive impact on the world,” says Steve Gleason.
Team Gleason, started by much loved and admired former Saints player Steve Gleason along with family and friends, was created to provide provide individuals with neuromuscular diseases or injuries with cutting edge technology, equipment, and services.
