Nibletz Media, the media and events production company that aims to be the voice of startups, created the Everywhere Else Conference series to celebrate startups and entrepreneurs outside of Silicon Valley, wherever they may be.
The Memphis, Tennessee conference will be held from April 30th to May 2nd and hopes to attract a solid group of attendees and showcasing companies from the Silicon Bayou.
Apply here to be one of the 10 startups chosen to compete on stage in the Startup Showdown for the titles of Community Choice Winner and Heavy Weight Champion of the conference. All chosen winners will get free tickets to the event and a spot at a booth in Startup Ave for the duration of the event to get in front of venture capitalists, angel investors and top executives.
The only eligibility criteria are that applicants must be headquartered somewhere other than Silicon Valley or the San Francisco Bay Area, not have raised more than $2 million and have a product or wish to launch a product at Everywhere Else Tennessee.
Nibletz Media founder Monica Selby is excited about the list of conference speakers, including: Jim McKelvey from Square, Paul Singh from Disruption Corporation and 500 Startups, and Nicole Glaros from Techstars.
The organizers recently announced a new addition to the lineup: the Veteran and Entrepreneurship panel. “There’s been a lot of quiet talk about veterans and startups in the last few months,” says Selby. “As veterans are returning from various war zones, lots of things have changed and there are fewer jobs to go around. So, like many of the rest of us, veterans are turning to entrepreneurship to take care of themselves and their families.”
Taylor McLemore, the founder of Techstars Patriot Boot Camp, will host the panel of several veteran founders. They will talk about the unique challenges they face as veterans and founders.
