Idea Village Announces 2015 Entrepreneur Season Launches July 28th

Idea VillageThe Idea Village team has announced that its 2015 Entrepreneur Season launches on Monday, July 28thThe 2015 Season will culminate in the 7th annual New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, March 2027, 2015and this year, NOEW will be headquartered on Fulton Street all week.

Below is more information from a recent email blast from The Idea Village:

On Monday, July 28th, a full calendar of innovative workshops and networking events for the community will be unveiled, and The Idea Village will open applications for participation in the following entrepreneur support initiatives:

  • IDEAx: A 12-week accelerator program for 10 New Orleans-based founders focused on creating scalable and fundable businesses.
  • IDEAsessions: One-on-one strategy sessions for startups looking to test an idea or tackle a pressing challenge quickly, led by seasoned entrepreneurs and business experts.

This Entrepreneur Season, The Idea Village is also growing its network of experts and professionals to support entrepreneurs. If you are interested in joining our efforts as a mentor and/or speaker, please email mentor@ideavillage.org for next steps.

“Post-Season” Updates:
Since the 2014 Entrepreneur Season ended with New Orleans Entrepreneur Week in March, the New Orleans ecosystem has experienced incredible growth. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Several New Orleans startups have gained significant traction: CultureConnect closed a small seed round with four New Orleans-based angel investors including the New Orleans Startup Fund, Dinner Lab closed a $2.1 million round of funding, Connect for a Cause was acquired by CommitChange, Be Well Nutrition, producer of ICONIC, was selected into AccelFoods’ food and beverage accelerator program, and mSchoolis now serving over 1,000 students.
  • Following New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, we embarked on a ‘Post-Season”Roadshow to New York and San Francisco with Launch Pad, GNO, Inc., andseven local entrepreneurs to showcase the New Orleans startup scene to investors, customers, and partners.
  • Our friends over at 4.0 Schools revealed their 9th Launch Cohort.
  • PowerMoves.NOLA made its debut over Essence Festival hosting programs focused on providing access to capital, connections, and guidance to minority entrepreneurs.
  • Among other announcements, the New Orleans BioInnovation Center welcomed new tenant MyMix Nutrition, a startup that just relocated to New Orleans from New York.
  • Propeller opened applications for its 2014-2015 Social Venture Accelerator.
