New Orleans Women in Technology (WIT), a local professional organization focused on increasing the number of women in technology careers in New Orleans, announced earlier this week that it will bring together employees from companies across the city for a free 1-day Bootcamp on Software Quality Assurance (QA). The QA Bootcamp will be taking place on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Propeller Incubator in New Orleans.
The Bootcamp will focus on basic concepts of Software Quality Assurance (QA), including QA testing tools, test planning, environment management, manual web application testing, automated testing, and how to create a QA team in your company. The bootcamp will be taught by Rebecca Snook, Director of Quality Assurance at TurboSquid. Snook has over 15 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with several success stories of building strong QA teams from the ground up. Snook stated, “I am excited to share my expertise with our local technology community, and honored to be a part of the exciting event organized by New Orleans Women in Technology.”
Torrie Adams, President of New Orleans Women in Technology stated, “Registrations have been pouring in, with representation from local companies such as Mudbug Media, Kickboard, Apptitude, Capital One, COE Solutions, Susco Solutions, and Carrollton Technologies. The interest in the event demonstrates that we have created a program of importance to our technology community.”
The event was made possible through the sponsorship of 365 Connect, the New Orleans-based award-winning online technology platform provider for the multifamily housing industry that is an avid supporter of the local technology ecosystem. 365 Connect has sponsored a number of events such as Teen Tech Day and NOLA Tech Week, along with an array of Hackathons and startup events. “365 Connect is one of the local success stories we point to, rising from a local start-up to an internationally recognized award-winning technology firm; they are a shining symbol of what is being accomplished here,” stated Torrie Adams, President of New Orleans Women in Technology. “Their participation and sponsorship of this event demonstrates their continuing commitment to the technology community and future of our city, we look forward to their continuing involvement with WIT.”
365 Connect President and CEO Kerry W. Kirby stated, “365 Connect is excited to sponsor this event that supports the educational structure of our technology innovators. New Orleans Women in Technology is doing great things in our city by providing free educational workshops that will help people build a variety of skills to create a foundation for a successful career. We want the local technology community to know that we stand ready to support them, as they are a vital part of the new economy that is pushing our city into the national spotlight.”
