Since 1979, Louisiana Economic Development (LED) has been recognizing manufacturing businesses in state with the Lantern Award. Winners exemplify manufacturing excellence as illustrated by the overall contributions to their communities, including investments in employment growth and facility expansion.
The 2014 Lantern Award was given to winners from eight regions across Louisiana, including the Covington-based company Mele Printing, the largest commercial printing company in the New Orleans area. Mele is currently celebrating 28 years of service to our customers and community.
The 2014 Louisiana Lantern Award winners also include: Omega Protein Inc., Abbeville; Valero St. Charles Refinery, Norco; PreSonus Audio Electronics Inc., Baton Rouge; Eclectic Products Inc., Pineville; Sapa Extrusions, Delhi; International Paper Company, Mansfield; and Airmaster Aerator LLC, DeRidder.
“The 2014 Lantern Awards recognize Louisiana-based manufacturers who demonstrate true quality in their work and genuine commitment to their local communities,” said Stephen Moret, LED Secretary. “With their focus on improvement, growth and innovation, this year’s Lantern Award winners also are helping us position Louisiana as the best state for business investment and job creation. We congratulate them on their many accomplishments and are truly grateful for the career opportunities they provide to the people of our state.”
