Calling all hardware startups: TechCrunch wants you to apply for their upcoming Hardware Battlefield competition at the Consumer Electronics Show. They are looking for early-stage hardware companies who have yet to publicly launch with new, innovative products, ideas and business models.
The deadline is November 5th.
Startups will pitch in front of TechCrunch editorial staff and judges for a chance to win $50,000 and the notorious Metal Man Trophy. Previous judges have included Eric Migicovsky, Bre Pettis, Rob Coneybeer, Jeff Clavier, and even Martha Stewart.
Companies will also receive free tickets and exhibition space in Eureka Park as part of a highlighted Hardware Battlefield section.
TechCrunch says that at the time of application, companies must have a functional prototype to demo to the selection committee. In selecting final contestants, they will give preference to companies that launch for the first time to the public and press through our competition. They will consider new products from existing companies to be significant, but companies launching new feature sets do not qualify. “We welcome startups from around the globe to submit their startups for consideration!”
