Last month, New Orleans-based organizations teamed up for Kickstarter CREATE, a program designed to get the local community on the crowdfunding platform.
4.0 Schools, The Idea Village, Launch Pad and Propeller hosted the inaugural event on October 21. Participants and organizers brainstormed ideas, worked on creative projects, and prepared to launch them to the world.
As the initiative moves forward, Kickstarter and the participating organizations and entrepreneurs are gearing up for a full timeline ahead. On November 20, they are hosting an in-depth workshop.
The invite explains: “The program will harness the innovative, creative, and collaborative spirit of the New Orleans entrepreneurial community, culminating in the opportunity to showcase launched Kickstarter projects at New Orleans Entrepreneurship Week and Launch Fest. Kickstarter representatives will provide mentorship, access to the creator community, and educational resources.”
Select creators and projects will be chosen by Kickstarter and its partners. Project pages are due on December 19 and participants will be selected on January 8.
Projects will launch on March 3 in preparation for showcasing at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week from March 20 to 27, and Launch Fest on April 15.
