Codemkrs Connects International Disaster Conference & Expo to First Hackathon

CODEMKRSCodemkrs, a New Orleans-based hackathon event organizer, has teamed up with the International Disaster Conference & EXPO (IDCE) for the inaugural #DisasterTech hackathon, held in conjunction with the conference February 7th and 8th.

#DisasterTech is currently seeking developers, designers and practitioners working in public safety-related fields to participate in the 24-hour event.

Codemkrs is dedicated to fixing problems using technology teams in code marathon events. Organizers said that this upcoming hackathon is designed to cross pollinate tech and disaster recover to find better ways for first responders and others to be better prepared to deal with disasters.

Participants will work together to develop open, platform-agnostic solutions and will receive input on challenges, experiences, and real-world examples from experts directly involved in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Codemkrs expects a number of topics to be covered, including: engaging the public and digital volunteers in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery; the ability to leverage information from new channels in new ways to support faster decision-making; more efficient collaboration through shared technologies and data, and more.

Registration for the event is free, but limited to the first 50 registrants.  RSVP here.
