Startup Weekend is an event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to launch startups in just 54-hours.
The international phenomenon is coming back to New Orleans this fall, October 16-18, 2015, at Loyola University’s Center for Entrepreneurship.
Last year, New Orleans Startup Weekend hosted more than 70 attendees who created 10 new business ideas during the event.
“Startup Weekend is about learning through the act of creating,” explains local organizers. “Participants don’t just listen to theory, but build their own and truly put it to the test while collaborating with like-minded, passionate individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and points of view.”
The event will begin with open mic pitches on Friday where attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Saturday and Sunday will primarily be devoted to customer development, validation, practicing lean startup methods, and building a minimum viable product.
On Sunday evening, teams will demo their prototypes and receive feedback from judges. The winning team will be invited to spend a week working on their ideas.
