New Orleans Women in Technology is hosting “Bring Your Daughter to Hack Day” for boys and girls ages four through 17 on October 3 from 9:30am to 3:00pm at the University of New Orleans (UNO).
The event encourages kids, especially girls, to engage with technology and STEM fields from a young age.
Although there will be volunteers at the event throughout the day, organizers encourage the attendance of parents because the daily is built around working together and promoting family engagement in technology.
Participants can can choose between four interactive workshops that range from electronic engineering to coding, to video production. Workshops include: Thinkerella’s STEAM Laboratory for (ages 48), Electric Girls Work Bench (ages 812), Elephant Quilt Video Studio (Ages 11+), and Website Factory with Tech Talent South (Ages 11+).
“365 Connect is excited to participate and sponsor this event that introduces our future technology innovators to the fundamentals of technology. Nothing is more important than fostering and inspiring our youth to engage in educational programs, and the fact that we can bring families together for the day is an added benefit,” says Kerry W. Kirby, founder and CEO of event sponsor 365 Connect.
Bring Your Daughter to Hack Day is also sponsored by GE Capital and UNO, making the event completely free for participants.
